Persian ironwood is a small deciduous tree originating from Iran. The tree is often multi-stemmed with patchy bark similar to a London Plane tree. In the spring the leaves have colorful edges that turn darker green in the summer. Fall colors are very nice orange and reds. The tree is related to witch hazel and gets tiny starlike red flowers in late winter and early spring. Zone 6-9. They have proven to be quite cold hearty here in N.E. Ohio overwintering nicely. Would make a great landscape tree and has many great qualities for bonsai. These are 3-4 year old seedlings fully rooted with roots often coming out of the bottom of the pot.
